Iron Maiden stalwart Nicko McBrain has expressed a desire to contribute to the band's next studio album, even if his physical limitations prevent him from performing on the road. Speaking to Berlin's Star FM, the veteran drummer confirmed that while he officially retired from touring duties in December 2024 following a stroke, he remains open to a studio collaboration with his former bandmates.

McBrain's retirement followed a period of adaptation where he had to modify iconic parts, such as the intro to 'The Trooper', due to partial paralysis in his right hand. While he acknowledges that the band's primary concern is the grueling demands of a multi-year world tour, he remains eager to contribute his craft in a recording capacity. "If they do [an album], I would love to do a couple of songs on it. Why not?" McBrain noted.

The drummer's tenure with the metal giants spanned 42 years and 14 studio albums. Since his departure, he has been replaced by Simon Dawson. McBrain is currently promoting his autobiography, "Hello Boys And Girls!", and continues to share his extensive history as one of the most influential drummers in heavy metal. While Steve Harris and Bruce Dickinson are currently focused on the logistics of the band's future, McBrain's door remains open for a studio cameo.
