Deep Purple have scrapped the remainder of their European leg of the "Splat!" world tour following a medical emergency involving vocalist Ian Gillan. The announcement came following Gillan's hospitalisation in Leipzig, which forced the immediate cancellation of their October 31 show at the QI Arena and a subsequent November 1 date at the Sporthalle in Hamburg.

Gillan took to social media on Monday to address the situation directly. He admitted to suffering a medical problem while in Germany that required urgent hospital attention. While the singer initially hoped to push through to the end of the tour, he confirmed that his medical team and management advised against it due to "very serious risks" involved in continuing.

There are very serious risks involved in me doing so.

As a result, the band has opted to postpone the rest of the European and UK tour dates until further notice. The decision aims to prioritise Gillan's health, despite the disruption caused to the itinerary.

This sudden halt comes after a period of speculation regarding the band's longevity. In a July 2026 interview with Paul Cashmere, bassist Roger Glover previously discussed the potential for the legends to finally call it quits, noting the longevity of the outfit since their 2017 "InFinite" release.
