CANDLEBOX frontman Kevin Martin has officially bucked his previous plans to retire from the spotlight, confirming that the band will indeed record and release a new full-length album next year. While the Seattle rockers previously marketed their recent output as a final farewell, Martin admitted during an appearance on SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk" that his management has successfully convinced him that the work is necessary. "I don't wanna do it, but management beats you up and tells you, 'You gotta do it'," Martin laughed, noting the investment required to produce a high-quality independent record in the current climate.

Much of the rekindled momentum can be attributed to the return of original guitarist Peter Klett. Martin described the reunion with Klett as a fundamental shift in the band's dynamic, likening the chemistry they forged in 1991 to a "foundation" that remains unshakable. The fact that Klett is back in the fold has revitalised the group's creative energy, leading to the recent release of "I Remember Everything" and the upcoming single "Still Running" in December.

I don't know why I'm doing it, but I'm still playing the game.

While Martin expressed some personal hesitation regarding the "short attention spans" of modern listeners, the lure of the music and the successful live shows have kept him engaged. The band is currently moving forward with the new material, aiming to prove that the CANDLEBOX identity remains as potent as it was during the grunge explosion of the early nineties.
