Slash Explains Why 'Flying Blind' Serves as a Perfect Metaphor for his Current Band
Slash discusses the recording process and collaborative dynamics for the upcoming 'Flying Blind' album with Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators.
Slash has confirmed that the title of the upcoming album, "Flying Blind", serves as a poignant metaphor for the current trajectory of SLASH FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY & THE CONSPIRATORS. Speaking with LA Lloyd, the Guns N' Roses icon explained that the track began as a spontaneous jam with Todd Kerns and Brent Fitz before Myles Kennedy penned the lyrics. "It's actually a great sort of metaphor for this band," Slash noted, reflecting on how the title resonates with the group's identity.
Recorded largely live at Studio Barbarosa in Florida with producer Michael "Elvis" Baskette, the 12-track LP is slated for a global release on February 26, 2027, via Gibson Records. To ensure a raw, authentic sound, Slash explicitly instructed Baskette to avoid over-polishing the performances. "I just don't [polish the shit out of my records]... I wanted him to make sure not to take out sort of the... imperfections," Slash explained, opting to keep the live feel of the recordings intact.
I think that as you grow as a musician... you just naturally gravitate towards something that you didn't necessarily do before.
Managing the production was a logistical feat given the high-profile commitments of the members, including Guns N' Roses and Alter Bridge. The band utilised specific "windows" of availability to coordinate recordings and overdubs. The album will also feature a cover of "Feel Like Makin' Love", a track the band eventually integrated into their live repertoire after performing it for a Bad Company tribute. The band is set to embark on an extensive world tour in 2027, beginning in Latin America before moving through North America, the UK, and Europe.
