Bruce Dickinson Promises New Solo Material Will Be "Heavy As S***"

Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson has teased that his forthcoming solo effort will be "heavy as s***" for those seeking high-octane metal. Speaking at the San Diego Comic-Con, the vocalist clarified that while his cross-media project, The Mandrake Project, is continuing its own narrative path in comic form, his next musical outing remains a standalone beast designed to push boundaries.

The upcoming record was recorded live by Dickinson and his touring band—including Mistheria, Dave Moreno, Tanya O'Callaghan, Chris Declercq, and Philip Näslund—in an "anti-A.I." move intended to capture raw energy. Production duties were split between Brendan Duffey at Studio 606 in California and his Florida studio for the final mix. Dickinson confirmed that while he aims for variety over repetitive formulas, he is staying firmly within the metal sphere.

Now, the album is heavy as shit. I'm not digging into 'Mandrake'.

A notable highlight of the upcoming LP will be a collaboration with his son, Austin, the former frontman of Rise to Remain and As Lions. Tracks from the record are expected to emerge throughout this year to give fans a taste before the full release. Although the official date for the album is currently slated for early 2027 via BMG, Dickinson confessed he is already busy with multiple music videos in the pipeline.
