Tony Iommi has pushed back against the inevitable comparisons between vocalist Jorn Lande and the late Ronnie James Dio. Speaking to Germany's Star FM, the Black Sabbath legend explained that while Lande's powerful delivery shares DNA with Dio, the choice was about finding the specific aesthetic for his solo outing, "From The Dark".

"I just liked Jorn's voice. That's the problem, really. Everybody's gonna compare something, and it's unfair, really, because Jorn is Jorn, and he was a fan of Dio anyway," Iommi remarked. He confirmed that Lande possesses the exact type of vocal style he sought for the record, noting the singer's distinctive strength and ability to deliver the necessary impact.

Beyond the vocal lineup, Iommi touched on the evolution of his creative process. While he originally planned an instrumental path following his collaboration with luxury fragrance brand Xerjoff, he opted for a full-band approach featuring Lande. The recording credits include bassist Becky Baldwin and drummer Karl Brazil, with co-production handled by Iommi and long-time collaborator Mike Exeter.

"From The Dark" arrived on October 23 via BMG and is available in several deluxe formats. The release features premium packaging, including a double LP cut at 45rpm for optimum dynamic range, alongside a special 32-page CD media book. Having forged the blueprints of heavy metal over six decades, Iommi continues to solidify his legacy with high-quality, expansive productions.
