Within Temptation Prepare Major Musical Pivot for New Album
Frontwoman Sharon Den Adel confirms the upcoming record will feature a '100% difference' in sound and diverse political themes.
Within Temptation are preparing to pivot significantly for their next studio release, with frontwoman Sharon Den Adel promising a massive departure from their previous sound. Following the 2023 release of "Bleed Out", the band is currently in the thick of recording and development sessions, crafting what Den Adel describes as an exploration of musical territories they have never touched before.
While the band remains committed to political engagement, the focus may shift slightly from the heavy social activism found on the previous record. Den Adel noted that while they won't be as overtly vocal about specific stances as they were last time, the reality of a "crazier" world ensures that global issues will remain a source of inspiration. The upcoming material aims for a broader spectrum, reflecting how interconnected modern events are across various nations.
The sound is gonna completely change with the next album. Like 100% difference.
This new era promises to be musically distinct in every way, with Den Adel hinting at incorporating live vocalists and extra musicians during the tour cycle. Although she stopped short of revealing specific genre shifts—joking that it might not turn out to be jazz after all—she insisted the evolution will be substantial. Having sold over four million records across eight albums, the band is aiming to blow fans away in a good way with this radical new direction.
