The Obsessed are gearing up for the release of 'Live Fast - Love Hard - Die Free', an album tentatively slated for early 2027 via Heavy Psych Sounds Records. Following the 2024 release 'Gilded Sorrow', the new offering marks a significant shift in sonic dynamics due to the addition of drummer Bob Pantella.

Frontman Scott "Wino" Weinrich explained that Pantella, who also performs with The Atomic Bitcawx and Monster Magnet, brings a sense of power and urgency to the record. "I think it's a different kind of sound. It's just a powerful groove," Weinrich noted, explaining how he tailored the songwriting to exploit the drummer's ability to come out of the gate "blazing". Unlike the sprawling jams often associated with the genre, the new collection consists of 10 tracks aimed at conciseness, with the longest reaching just over five minutes.

I believe the world is my canvas... My last solo record's called 'Create Or Die'. I mean, that's basically my core philosophy.

Beyond the technical shifts, Weinrich shared the inspiration behind the evocative new title. At 66, he views the mantra as a push to overcome the "negative groove" of modern life and routine. The upcoming release is also destined for a special gatefold vinyl edition, featuring a collage of live fan shots. While a new EP is planned for late 2026, Weinrich currently aims to keep the new material mostly under wraps until the official release, with only the title track currently making appearances on stage.
