Sabaton Frontman Joakim Brodén Teases New Ideas Following 'Legends' Success

SABATON frontman Joakim Brodén has revealed he is already gathering inspiration for a successor to the band's latest album, "Legends". While the Swedish power metal stalwarts are currently touring the new record, Brodén confessed in a recent interview with Jason Saulnier that he is already stockpiling ideas for their next sonic chapter.

Brodén admitted that while the band hasn't settled on a specific theme for the next release, the creative process never truly stops. "I'm the main songwriter, and it never really stops, so I'm always playing around with music because it's fun," he noted. He typically takes a six-month breather after the intense grind of pre-production and mixing before diving into the next project.

We're still trying to figure that out. We have a bunch of ideas, obviously, but which one we're going with, I have no idea.

Reflecting on the band's two-decade evolution since "Primo Victoria", Brodén highlighted the transition from finding the right way to write a song to mastering the ability to produce a unique, polished SABATON anthem. He described the band as evolutionary rather than revolutionary, noting that while the gulf between consecutive albums might be slight, the growth in production and songwriting maturity over time is undeniable.

Recent successes, including the guest-laden version of "Templars" and the massive streaming figures for "Yamato" and "Bismarck", provide a solid foundation as they head toward their "Legends On Tour" trek across North America.
