SHINING have unleashed "North", a visceral collision of industrial metal, distorted screams, and the band's signature shrieking saxophone. The track is anchored by a distinctive Nordic saxophone riff designed to freeze blood to ice, serving as a sonic tribute to the harsh winters and defiant spirit of the North.

Founder Jørgen Munkeby explains that the track celebrates "The Northern Way"—a stubborn, self-reliant ethos that has defined the band's trajectory since their inception. To maintain creative autonomy, the ensemble wrote, recorded, and mixed the piece entirely in their own studio before retreating to drummer Simen Sandnes's mountain cabin to film the official music video.

At its core, it's a song about Northern perseverance and 'The Northern Way'.

This release arrives just ahead of the band's appearance at Bloodstock Open Air on August 7, where they will perform their celebrated "Blackjazz" set. While the band is currently crafting a new full-length album, "North" signals a clear progression into their next chapter.

Since evolving from an acoustic jazz quartet into a powerhouse of blackened industrial metal and progressive extremity, SHINING has remained a singular force in heavy music. Following the massive success of 2018's "Animal", which garnered over 13 million Spotify streams, the band continues to push the boundaries of their genre-defying sound.
