William Shatner set to release heavy metal debut 'What The F Is Heavy Metal?'

William Shatner is diving headfirst into the heavy metal scene with his upcoming studio album, titled 'What The F Is Heavy Metal?'. The 'Star Trek' icon confirmed the project during an interview with The Moynihan Report, noting that while he admits to knowing very little about the genre's technicality, he has become fascinated by its capacity to channel raw, passionate emotions.

Produced by a heavy-hitting team including Adam Hamilton, Brian Perera, and members of Die Krupps, the record will feature a staggering array of guest appearances. Heavyweight names confirmed for the project include Queen's Brian May, Judas Priest's Rob Halford, Disturbed's John Moyer, and Slayer's Dave Lombardo. Shatner expressed his inspiration from the 'anguished' and 'crazed' guitar work of May, specifically on a track titled 'Rage'.

The music is a distillation of emotion. It's so right there.

Shatner is also preparing for a live debut with his newly formed band, The *uckers. The group is scheduled to perform a 30-minute set at Riot Fest on Sunday, 20 September in Chicago's Douglass Park. Shatner described his creative focus as finding the 'distillation of emotion' within the music, specifically targeting themes of environmental concern and personal frustration in his songwriting.
