UK-based bassist Becky Baldwin has shared a playthrough video of "Stormwatcher", a standout track from Tony Iommi's upcoming solo album, "From The Dark". The Birmingham-based musician, who recently joined Danish metal veterans Mercyful Fate, has been praised by Iommi for her ability to channel the style of the late Geezer Butler.

Baldwin's path to the studio was paved by her consistent presence on social media. She admits that while her YouTube bass covers were intended to prove her technical proficiency to the industry, they ultimately served as a vital portfolio. "It was helping me get endorsements and all sorts of other kind of stuff... It went through to Hank Shermann for Mercyful Fate, and it got through to Mike Exeter for Tony Iommi," she explained.

I was just sat on my sofa just, like, 'Oh, today sucks.' And, yeah, an e-mail came through saying — I think 'Tony Iommi' was the subject.

Producer Mike Exeter had been following Baldwin's work for years before Iommi saw her cover of "Children of the Sea". This led to a studio invitation that initially aimed for a single session but eventually resulted in her recording the entire album. Baldwin collaborated closely with Iommi and Exeter to refine the bass lines, moving beyond the initial guide tracks to create a cohesive sound. While Iommi originally hoped to work with Geezer Butler, Baldwin's ability to replicate that specific aesthetic made her the ideal choice for the project.
