Slipknot Single 'Arsenal' Confirmed as Standalone Release, Not Part of Upcoming LP

Slipknot guitarist Jim Root has confirmed that the newly released single, "Arsenal", will not appear on the band's forthcoming studio album. Addressing the track's departure from the group's established sonic identity, Root explained that the song was intended as a quick release while the remaining material is being polished.

"Arsenal" marks the band's first new material in over three years, released via their ownest Records label following the conclusion of their long-standing deal with Roadrunner. It also serves as the first output since the arrival of drummer Eloy Casagrande and the departures of Sid Wilson and Craig Jones. The track has already faced some scrutiny from fans regarding its heavy use of repetitive chanting in the chorus, prompting Root to clarify its status as a standalone piece.

While fans may be divided on the track's direction, frontman Corey Taylor defended the "pummeling experience" during a premiere on BBC Radio 1. Taylor claimed the song encapsulates the band's spirit through moments of "hyperactivity" and a "sublime drop." The upcoming LP will serve as the follow-up to 2022's "The End, So Far."
