Outlier Sign With Oxide Records And Release New Single 'Digital Hell'

Outlier have officially signed with Oxide Records and unveiled a new single and music video, “Digital Hell,” to mark the announcement.

The track takes aim at society’s increasingly uneasy relationship with technology, focusing on the trade-offs that come with constant connectivity, algorithm-driven information and the erosion of privacy. Vocalist Joey Arena describes the song as a warning about the point at which tools built to serve people begin to shape behaviour instead.

The new single questions whether technology still serves us, or whether we have started serving it.

“We built technology to serve humanity. Somewhere along the way, we began serving it,” Arena says. He points to the exchange of privacy for convenience, attention for distraction and genuine human connection for systems designed to keep users engaged.

Arena adds that the threat posed by that shift is not necessarily dramatic or immediate, but cumulative: “Not every apocalypse arrives with fire. Some arrive one notification at a time.”

The release follows Arena’s recent guest appearance on Motionless In White’s single “Fight Like Hell.” Speaking about the collaboration, he thanked the band for involving him in the track and said he had been encouraged by the response from fans.

Outlier’s signing also brings them into the Oxide Records roster, with label founder Andrew Wetzel saying the band’s background in rock and metal makes them a strong fit for the company’s plans.

“Digital Hell” is available now on major streaming platforms, with further music and announcements from Outlier expected to follow through Oxide Records.
