Helix Announce New Album ‘Scrap Metal’

Helix will release their new studio collection “Scrap Metal” on January 23, 2026 through Perris Records. It will be the Canadian band’s fourteenth release with the label and combines newly completed archival songs with material previously scattered across other projects.

Five tracks have not been released before and were developed to retain the group’s 1980s hard rock character. The remaining selections originally appeared on releases including “Old School”, “half-ALIVE” and “B-Sides”. First single “Stuck In The 80s” features guitarist Sean Kelly, while “Fast & Furious” will follow as a second digital single.

The album combines five previously unreleased songs with revived material from across the band’s later catalogue.

Frontman Brian Vollmer says the project began as an afterthought built around unreleased older compositions before developing into a complete album. Aaron Murray and bassist Daryl Gray produced the sessions, with current guitarists Mark Chichkan and Christopher Julke contributing alongside former members Kaleb Duck and Brent Doerner.

The 12-song track listing includes “Pretty Poison”, “Hot Heavy & Wild”, “Jaws Of The Tiger”, “Danger Zone”, “Tie Me Down” and “The Pusher”. “Scrap Metal” follows Helix’s recent Canadian dates with Nazareth on the latter band’s farewell tour.

Formed in Kitchener in 1974, Helix achieved international recognition with albums such as “No Rest For The Wicked” and “Walkin’ The Razor’s Edge”. The group remain best known for “Rock You” and “Heavy Metal Love” but have continued recording rather than operating solely as a catalogue touring act.
