William Shatner Recruits Dave Lombardo for Metal Album

William Shatner has recruited former Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo and Disturbed bassist John Moyer for an upcoming heavy metal album. Judas Priest vocalist Rob Halford had already been confirmed as a guest on the still-untitled project.

Lombardo described contributing to the record as a privilege and praised Shatner for continuing to pursue ambitious work at the age of 95. The drummer’s involvement gives the project a direct connection to thrash metal history, while Moyer adds a musician associated with one of modern hard rock’s largest arena acts.

The untitled album pairs Shatner’s spoken delivery with an expanding cast of major metal musicians.

Production is being led by Adam Hamilton and Cleopatra Records president Brian Perera, with additional work from Derek Hughes, Marcus Nand and Die Krupps founder Jürgen Engler. The team has indicated that another Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame guitarist will be revealed later. No title, track listing or release date has yet been announced.

Shatner has built a parallel recording career around his distinctive spoken-word delivery, often working with musicians from outside his acting world. Previous releases have included the rock-oriented “Has Been”, the autobiographical “Bill” and the chart-topping blues collection “The Blues”. His new project is being presented as a committed heavy metal record rather than a brief novelty appearance, with further high-profile guests still being kept under wraps.
