Dee Snider Slams 'Bullshit' Farewell Tours and Ghost Bands

Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider has launched a scathing critique against the rock industry's penchant for 'bullshit' farewell tours. In a series of video messages shared on Facebook, Snider blasted acts that announce a final tour only to emerge from retirement a few years later to sell more merchandise and tickets. "We don't want you to leave. Just don't announce a farewell tour, sell us the whole bullshit farewell package... and then come back a couple years later to just milk us dry again," Snider stated, noting that such tactics make fans stop taking retirement announcements seriously.

Snider also took aim at 'corporate rock' bands that continue to tour under legendary names despite containing zero members from the original or classic lineups. He described the practice as deceptive and misrepresentative, arguing that these entities are popular for their songs rather than the individuals involved. When faced with pushback from fans who suggested these groups 'inherited' the names, Snider was blunt: "That doesn't make you a bandmember."

He specifically highlighted the importance of original personnel, citing Quiet Riot's Rudy Sarzo as an example of a veteran who earns his place. Snider warned that if such members depart, the band name should be retired from the road entirely. He even took a swipe at roadies defending these lineups, telling them to find work elsewhere. The comments come as Snider himself recently had to step back from Twisted Sister's 2026 reunion plans due to health reasons, while the band's new touring lineup—featuring Sebastian Bach—began its run in late August.
