Geezer Butler Joins Jack Black for 'War Pigs' at Power To The People Festival
Original Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler joined Jack Black on stage to perform 'War Pigs' at Tom Morello's festival.
Geezer Butler joined Jack Black on stage at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland, to perform the Black Sabbath classic "War Pigs". The appearance took place on Saturday night, 3 October, during Tom Morello's Power To The People festival.
Black, who fronts the tribute act Jack Sabbath, performed a three-song set featuring "Mr. Crowley" and "The Wizard" before Butler joined the lineup for the Sabbath anthem. The backing band for the set included Roman Morello on guitar, Revel Ian on bass, Yoyoka Soma on drums, and Hugo Weiss on keyboards.
Jack Black hailed the Sabbath legends as the architects of heavy metal's darkest, heaviest era.
Black has long championed the legacy of the Birmingham legends. During Ozzy Osbourne's 2024 Rock And Roll Hall of Fame induction, Black praised the band's impact, stating that Osbourne, Butler, Ward, and Iommi created "the darkest, heaviest shit the world had ever heard." The actor and Tenacious D frontman has previously paid tribute to the band's influence, including a track on his debut album and appearances in various projects related to the heavy metal icons.
