Coroner Announce First New Album in 32 Years

Coroner will release “Dissonance Theory”, their first studio album in more than three decades, on October 17 through Century Media Records. Lead single “Renewal” introduces a ten-song, 47-minute record that follows 1993’s “Grin”.

Guitarist and producer Tommy Vetterli says the band rejected the idea of constructing a nostalgic sequel to its classic catalogue. Instead, Coroner approached the album as a contemporary work shaped by the musicians they have become, while accepting that their established rhythmic and harmonic identity would remain recognisable.

Lead single ‘Renewal’ introduces a ten-song album created without attempting to imitate Coroner’s earlier records.

“Dissonance Theory” was recorded at Vetterli’s New Sound Studios in Switzerland. Jens Bogren mixed and mastered the album at Fascination Street Studios in Sweden. The track listing includes “Oxymoron”, “Consequence”, “Sacrificial Lamb”, “Crisium Bound”, “Symmetry”, “Transparent Eye”, “Trinity” and closing piece “Prolonging”.

A limited two-CD edition will include Coroner’s 1986 “Death Cult” demo featuring Tom G. Warrior on vocals. Standard CD, vinyl and digital editions are also planned.

Vetterli and bassist-vocalist Ron Broder revived Coroner for live activity in 2011. Drummer Diego Rapacchietti later replaced original member Marky Edelmann and became a significant contributor to the new material’s technical and rhythmic development. The album ends a recording absence that lasted 32 years while preserving the trio’s reputation for progressive thrash built on precision rather than excess.
