Symphony X Set to Begin Recording New Studio Album in September
Vocalist Russell Allen confirms that the band is ready to enter the studio this September to record their highly anticipated next release.
Symphony X is preparing to enter the studio this September to begin the recording process for their next studio album. During a recent interview on SiriusXM's Ozzy's Boneyard, vocalist Russell Allen confirmed that the musical foundation for the upcoming record is complete, with the band now moving into the phase of finalising lyrics and concepts.
Allen noted that guitarist and primary composer Michael Romeo has provided a wealth of material, and the band is now focused on weaving these elements together. While the gap between releases has grown over the years, Allen expressed confidence that the upcoming record will be released in 2027. He highlighted that the current phase of the band's career prioritises the quality of the music and the legacy of the work over a rapid release schedule.
The new album is pretty close to starting to get recorded because the music is all there.
Earlier this year, Romeo admitted the challenges of the creative process, noting that he often faces a mountain of ideas—sometimes over a thousand—that must be meticulously sorted. The band has been working through this massive amount of material to ensure only the best tracks make the final cut. With the core music already in place, the band aims to maintain momentum and move toward a 2027 release date.
