Snot Continue Work on First New Album With Andy Knapp

Snot are continuing work on their long-awaited new studio album with producer, engineer and mixer Chris Collier. The record will be the band’s first with vocalist Andy Knapp, who joined the reunited group and made his live debut in January 2025.

Guitarist Mikey Doling says the writing process has developed more easily than expected, with the group returning to the mixture of funk, punk, heavy rock and loose “lounge jam” passages associated with its original material. Doling praised Knapp’s contribution while acknowledging that replacing late vocalist Lynn Strait is impossible. He said Knapp has approached the role professionally and brought renewed energy to the band.

The reunited band are combining funk, punk, groove metal and the energy that defined ‘Get Some’.

The sessions also involve bassist John “Tumor” Fahnestock and drummer Jamie Miller, whose playing Doling considers essential to preserving Snot’s characteristic groove. No release date or label has yet been confirmed, though the band has stated that recording and touring are now part of a sustained return rather than another temporary reunion.

Snot disbanded after Strait died in a traffic accident in December 1998. Their only conventional studio album, “Get Some”, was released in 1997, while the guest-heavy memorial record “Strait Up” followed in 2000. Earlier reunion attempts used several different singers, but the current lineup believes it has finally found a workable path for new music.
