Raven expect to begin recording their next studio album during July or August 2026. Bassist and vocalist John Gallagher says the British-American trio has assembled more than enough songs and is now deciding how the material should be arranged into a complete record.

Gallagher described the new music as a further step beyond the band’s 2025 EP “Can’t Take Away The Fire”. He says the songs combine greater intensity with heavier passages, stronger melodies and the eccentric energy that has long distinguished Raven from other bands associated with the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal.

John Gallagher says the new material is heavier, more melodic and more intense than the band’s recent work.

The group intends to review arrangements and discuss the album title and artwork while travelling on its spring North American tour. Raven’s members currently live in different parts of the United States, making the road one of the few periods when the full band can work through ideas together. An extensive touring cycle is already being planned for 2027.

The update follows a difficult 2025 in which Raven postponed European dates after Gallagher suffered a subdural haematoma and required emergency brain surgery. Guitarist Mark Gallagher also underwent ankle and knee replacements. Both musicians have since returned to playing condition, and John Gallagher says his bass technique has recovered after temporary neurological problems. Raven’s next album will follow 2022’s “Leave ’Em Bleeding” compilation and 2020 studio record “Metal City”.
