Power Trip Chart New Path with 'Precinct 3' and 'Scavenger' Double Single
Texas heavyweights Power Trip return with a massive new double single, marking their first foray into a new era following the loss of Riley Gale.
Texas metal stalwarts Power Trip have delivered a scorching new double single, "Precinct 3" and "Scavenger", signalling the start of a fresh chapter. These recordings mark the band's first new material since the passing of vocalist Riley Gale in 2020. To navigate this transition, the band recruited long-time friend Seth Gilmore, known for his work with Skourge and Fugitive, to take over vocal duties.
Recorded at Empire Sound in Carrollton, Texas, the tracks were produced by Jacob Hansen. Hansen, known for his work with Arch Enemy and Amon Amarth, has managed to maintain the band's signature grit while polishing their contemporary ideas. Drummer Chris Ulsh noted that Hansen's background in the late '80s extreme metal underground was essential for meeting the band's high standards for both modern production and authentic identity.
We want something that sounds current, but most importantly we want it to sound like us.
"Precinct 3" is a high-velocity assault clocking in at 205 BPM, featuring jarring start-stops and a heavy half-speed beatdown. The lyrics, which tackle the dangers of unchecked authority, were penned with the late Riley Gale in mind to ensure his influence remained central to the band's identity. Meanwhile, "Scavenger" offers a snarling mid-tempoer that explores the theme of social parasites.
Released via Blue Grape Music, the singles are available digitally and as a limited seven-inch. A Record Store Day Black Friday exclusive featuring alternate artwork will be available at indie shops on 27 November, 2026. While the new era of Power Trip has just begun, the band has confirmed a full-length album is slated for 2027.
