Peter Frampton Set to Receive Icon Award at Newport Beach Film Festival
Rock legend Peter Frampton will be honoured with the Icon Award tonight following the screening of his documentary.
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and Grammy Award-winning guitarist Peter Frampton is set to receive the Icon Award tonight at the 27th annual Newport Beach Film Festival. The accolade follows the opening night screening of his documentary, "Frampton". The award will be presented to the guitar legend by Dean and Robert DeLeo of Stone Temple Pilots, with Frampton and director Rob Arthur scheduled to appear for a post-screening question-and-answer session.
The documentary follows Frampton's career trajectory from the massive success of "Frampton Comes Alive!" through a final tour influenced by a degenerative diagnosis. The film features appearances from a wide array of heavyweights, including Ringo Starr, Alice Cooper, and Tom Morello. The film had its world premiere at the 2026 Tribeca Festival and recently opened the Nashville Film Festival.
Stone Temple Pilots' Dean and Robert DeLeo will present the award to the guitar icon.
Frampton has remained prolific despite the hurdles of his diagnosis, recently releasing "Carry The Light" with his son, Julian Frampton. This marked his first collection of all-new material in 16 years and featured a notable list of guests including Sheryl Crow and Graham Nash. Following a busy 2023 featuring the "Frampton@50" box set and a performance at Royal Albert Hall, Frampton's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2024 solidified his status as one of the most decorated guitarists in rock history.
