Immortal Finish Writing Eleventh Studio Album

Immortal have completed the writing process for their eleventh studio album. Founder Harald “Demonaz” Nævdal announced that the follow-up to 2023’s “War Against All” is now fully composed, although recording and release details have not yet been disclosed.

Demonaz described the material as a continuation of Immortal’s established path, built around fast riffs and the fictional frozen realm of Blashyrkh that has shaped the band’s identity since its early years. Further information about the studio lineup, producer and intended release schedule is expected later.

The next Immortal record will continue the band’s fast, riff-driven vision of Blashyrkh metal.

“War Against All” arrived through Nuclear Blast and was the second Immortal album created without former frontman and guitarist Abbath. Demonaz has remained the central creative figure following years of personnel changes and legal disputes concerning ownership of the band’s name. Those disagreements ultimately established that the Immortal trademark belonged to the group rather than one individual.

Immortal began in Bergen in 1990 and became one of the most internationally prominent acts to emerge from Norway’s early black metal movement. The band’s catalogue includes “Pure Holocaust”, “At The Heart Of Winter” and “Sons Of Northern Darkness”, while 2018’s “Northern Chaos Gods” marked the first full-length release after Abbath’s departure. The completed new material suggests that Immortal’s current era will continue without attempting to recreate the original lineup.
