Legendary extreme metal drummer Gene Hoglan has addressed the logistical demands of his upcoming double-duty stint with Death to All and Dark Angel for their Australian tour in January 2027. Speaking on The Downbeat Podcast, Hoglan noted that the primary challenge lies in the lack of rest inherent in a flight-heavy itinerary.

"The only challenging part of that will be... If we were on a tour bus for that run, I'm into it. We fly from show to show... and not getting rest," Hoglan explained. The drummer admitted to being a "serial napper" to build energy before shows, a luxury he won't have during the Australian and South American legs. To compensate, he relies on "superfood"—concentrated vitamins—rather than energy drinks to maintain stamina without staying "revved up" before sleep.

Death to All, featuring Hoglan, Steve DiGiorgio, and Bobby Koelble, will perform a massive legacy set covering the entire Death catalogue. This follows their 2024 and 2025 North American runs celebrating landmark albums like "Spiritual Healing" and "Symbolic".

Dark Angel, meanwhile, is preparing for the tour following the release of their first new album in 34 years, "Extinction Level Event". The record, produced by Hoglan, was released in September 2025 and features material written by the late Jim Durkin.
