DOWN Drop New Single and Video for Upcoming 'Volume V' Release

DOWN have issued the official music video for "The Myth", a blistering new single that serves as the opening salvo for their upcoming studio album, "Volume V". Directed by MetalDave Media, the visual accompanies a track defined by pounding rhythms, precise down-picking, and powerhouse vocals. The new record is slated for a November 20 release via Nuclear Blast Records.

Phil Anselmo describes the track as a "jammer" with a notable nod to "TROUBLE". While the song features the band's signature groove, Anselmo suggests the vocal delivery draws inspiration from icons like Ronnie James Dio and Ozzy Osbourne. Kirk Windstein echoed this sentiment, labelling the track a "classic DOWN collaboration" where the components of heavy riffing and impressive vocals coalesce into a cohesive unit.

The track and video are both straightforward and hammering.

For the brotherhood of Anselmo, Pepper Keenan, Windstein, Jimmy Bower, and Pat Bruders, "The Myth" represents the continued evolution of their New Orleans-rooted legacy. Keenan noted the track is a "hammer fisted" piece of heavy metal that leans into a 70s jam trip, while Bruders claimed the song almost wrote itself once the quintet occupied the same room. "It's heavy hitting and has all the right moves," added Bower, confirming the track's status as a standout for the forthcoming collection.
