Dimmu Borgir Complete Long-Awaited New Album

Dimmu Borgir have completed recording, mixing and mastering their long-awaited new studio album. Producer Fredrik Nordström confirmed that work at Studio Fredman is finished, bringing the Norwegian band’s first full-length collection since 2018’s “Eonian” a significant step closer to release.

Guitarist Silenoz says Nuclear Blast allowed the group to work without imposing a deadline, recognising that the band’s elaborate arrangements require a longer development process. Although Dimmu Borgir previously hoped to avoid another extended gap between records, the pandemic and the scale of the writing and production stretched the schedule considerably.

Producer Fredrik Nordström says established fans will not be disappointed by the completed record.

The band expect 2026 to become a major release and touring year. Silenoz has indicated that a proper European headline tour is planned, while a North American run remains dependent on rising production and travel costs. No album title, release date or track listing has yet been disclosed.

The record also follows another personnel transition. Kjell Åge “Damage” Karlsen joined as a live guitarist in 2025 after longtime member Galder left to reactivate Old Man’s Child. Dimmu Borgir’s official core remains vocalist Shagrath and guitarist Silenoz, supported live by Karlsen, drummer Dariusz “Daray” Brzozowski, keyboardist Geir Bratland and bassist Victor Brandt. The completed album will be the group’s first new studio statement in approximately eight years.
