Carnifex Announce 'More Than Misery' and Debut Title Track

Southern California deathcore veterans CARNIFEX have confirmed their upcoming full-length, "More Than Misery", which is set to drop on November 6 via Sumerian Records. To mark the announcement, the band has released the title track alongside an official music video, showcasing a shift in perspective for vocalist Scott Ian Lewis.

While previous records captured Lewis's lyrics from within the thick of his experiences, "More Than Misery" is framed as a collection of songs written from the vantage point of having survived. This creates a double meaning for the title; it is not just a warning of something worse lurking in the dark, but an assertion that life is larger than the suffering it contains. Lewis describes the record as the band at their "most honest and unapologetically brutal."

Musically, the band aimed to marry the raw physical directness of first-wave deathcore with the symphonic textures developed in their later era. The album was recorded in Tennessee with Zach Householder of WHITECHAPEL and mixed by Jeff Dunne.

Following the release, CARNIFEX will embark on a heavy touring cycle across North America and Europe. This includes a supporting slot for ALL SHALL PERISH and a massive 20-date European co-headline tour with DESPISED ICON and SUFFOCATION. The band is scheduled to perform in Sheffield on the day of the album's release.
