Berserker

Berserker announces itself with clenched fists, bright synthesizers and a vocalist capable of turning nearly every chorus into a declaration. “Beast in Black” is direct and aggressive, while “Blind and Frozen” immediately reveals the album’s broader plan: traditional heavy-metal melody fused to glossy electronic production and enormous vocal hooks.

The album wants to sound dangerous and immaculate at the same time, and immaculate usually wins.

That combination works when the song has a strong emotional center. “Born Again” carries genuine urgency, and “End of the World” balances melody with enough guitar weight to avoid becoming pure pop-metal spectacle. “Zodd the Immortal” also benefits from a darker riff and a more forceful rhythmic frame. These tracks communicate something beyond technical confidence; they have tension.

Elsewhere, the album’s immaculate finish becomes a problem. “Crazy, Mad, Insane” pushes the synthetic pulse so prominently that the band begins to sound trapped inside its own production. “Eternal Fire” and “Go to Hell” contain strong vocal performances, but the guitars often function as reinforcement rather than the source of the song’s identity. The record talks constantly about power while sanding down most of its rough edges.

The vocals remain the central weapon. High notes are delivered with control, lower passages carry authority, and the choruses rarely lack conviction. Yet the emotional stance can feel one-dimensional. Defiance, obsession and heroic intensity arrive again and again without much room for vulnerability or ambiguity. “Ghost in the Rain” provides some needed contrast, though it arrives too late to reshape the album.

Berserker is neither timid nor incompetent. Its problem is that every element has been polished toward maximum impact, leaving little room for danger. The hooks are real, the performances are powerful and several tracks are memorable. But the album often feels less like a beast breaking loose than a beast displayed under perfect showroom lighting.
