US metalcore stalwarts AS I LAY DYING have officially completed the recording process for their ninth studio album. The upcoming release, slated for an early 2027 debut via Napalm Records, follows the 2024 LP "Through Storms Ahead".

To involve the fanbase in the final curation of the record, the band will release two contrasting tracks, "Polarized" and "Retribution", on Tuesday, September 15. Vocalist Tim Lambesis confirmed the band recorded 12 songs with the intent of trimming the tracklist down to 10. The two upcoming previews represent the extremes of the album's sonic spectrum: "Polarized" leans into melodic, mid-tempo territory with more singing, while "Retribution" is described as a fast, dark, and heavy assault with no vocals at all.

We're going to show you little clips of two songs... and then on September 15th, we'll have both those songs come out fully.

Lambesis and bassist Chris Clancy have been working on the material following a busy touring cycle, which included a 20th-anniversary run for "Shadows Are Security". While the band is exploring modern technicality, some tracks like "Throwback" have intentionally captured a nostalgic, old-school feel. The new material marks the first full cycle for the current lineup, which features Lambesis, Clancy, Bill Hudson, Don Vedda, and Tim Yeung.
