This fictional studio conversation demonstrates an interview focused on craft. Technical pieces can use the same article structure while replacing promotional language with concrete detail.
HEAVINESS IS CONTRAST, NOT A PLUGIN.
The imaginary producer argues that weight comes from contrast: a dense section only feels enormous when the arrangement leaves somewhere for it to expand from.
That means muting parts, varying cymbal density and resisting the temptation to make every instrument occupy the full frequency spectrum.
The underlying lesson works beyond production. Good metal writing also needs dynamics—short facts, developed arguments and occasional moments allowed to stand on their own.
